Dear Parents,

We are delighted to share the exhilarating news of our recent success at the interschool debate competition held at Samuel Centenary High! This event was not just a contest but an incredible adventure that showcased the talent, determination, and teamwork of our students. We are proud to announce that all four of our teams excelled, qualifying for both the second and semi-final rounds, and ultimately achieving recognition for their outstanding performances.

Our school fielded four dynamic teams composed of enthusiastic debaters who brought their A-game to the competition. The first team featured Victor Muparutsa, Patience Simango, and Makanaka Dekwende. The second team included Kundai Banganwa, Mazvita Dzvairo, and Tanya Nyamande. Justin Watambwa, Sasha Muchena, and Chelsy Mutasa formed our third team, while the fourth team consisted of O’Neil Ndou, Nakai, and Nigel Chinondo. Each team displayed remarkable skills, enthusiasm, and a commitment to excellence, which contributed significantly to our school’s success.

Throughout the competition, our students faced off against formidable opponents from esteemed schools, including Samuel Centenary, Erry Maple, Mother Touch, Westwood, and AMRS. The experience was both challenging and rewarding, pushing our students to think critically, articulate their thoughts clearly, and engage with complex topics. We are thrilled to report that every team advanced through the rounds, demonstrating their hard work and preparation.

One of the highlights of the event was the incredible achievement of Kundai Banganwa, who showcased her exceptional skills by winning three prestigious awards: a gold medal for first place in Essay Writing, the title of Penguin of the T.O.E Year 2024, and the coveted Best Debate Speaker award. Her accomplishments reflect not only her individual talent but also the dedication and support of her teammates and coaches.

Furthermore, we would like to congratulate Victor Muparutsa for securing second place as the Best Junior Division Speaker. His ability to articulate arguments with clarity and confidence was commendable and contributed to our overall success. Each student who participated earned recognition for their efforts, and this collective achievement speaks volumes about the talent and potential within our school community.

The adventure at Samuel Centenary High was more than just a competition; it was a journey of growth and learning. Our students developed essential skills such as public speaking, critical thinking, and teamwork. They learned to embrace challenges, think on their feet, and engage in respectful discourse, all of which are vital in today’s world. The camaraderie and friendships forged during this experience will undoubtedly last a lifetime.

As we celebrate this remarkable accomplishment, we encourage you to continue fostering your child’s interest in debate and public speaking. Engaging in discussions at home, exploring current events, and encouraging their opinions will help them build confidence and articulation. We are committed to providing more opportunities for our students to shine in future debates and competitions.

In conclusion, our school’s success at the debate competition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, the support of our parents, and the guidance of our educators. We are incredibly proud of each participant and excited for what lies ahead. Thank you for being a vital part of this journey, and we look forward to more adventures in the future!

Warm regards,
